Israel's major attack on Gaza, Top officials killed...

Israel on tuesday (March 18, 2025) carried out a heavy airstrike on Hamas targets in the Gaza Strip. This is the first major military operation since the ceasefire began on january 19 this year. This new attack has been carried out after the ceasefire talks between israel and Hamas failed. The death of the head of the Hamas government and a top official in the attack carried out by israel in Gaza has also been confirmed.

Top Hamas officials killed

According to the report of news agency AFP, several top officials including Hamas government chief Issam al-Dalis were killed in Israel's airstrike. A statement issued by Hamas said that Interior Ministry chief Mahmoud Abu Watfa and Internal Security service Director General Bahjat Abu sultan were also killed in the attacks.

Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that he has instructed the army to take strong action against Hamas. The Israeli army said that as per the instructions of the political leadership, the IDF and ISA carried out large-scale attacks on the terrorist bases of the Hamas terrorist organization in the Gaza Strip.

Netanyahu justified the military action

Prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu's office later justified the military action, saying that Hamas' repeated refusal to release our hostages, as well as the rejection of all proposals received from US Presidential envoy Steve Witkoff and mediators, was the reason for the military action. The statement said that israel will now take action against Hamas with more military force.

New tensions between israel and Hamas have emerged when ceasefire talks failed due to disagreement over the terms of the next phase of the ceasefire. israel had demanded to proceed with the first phase of the three-stage agreement, while Hamas insisted on moving towards the second phase.
