London's Heathrow airport closed- fire in power substation...

Heathrow airport in london has announced to close air services for the whole day on friday (March 21). This airport is one of the busiest airports in the world. More than 1300 flights have been cancelled due to the closure of the airport. The airport has cited the massive fire in the power substation as the reason behind this announcement. Actually, a massive fire broke out in the power substation on thursday night (March 20), due to which power supply was disrupted in the entire area.

Meanwhile, Heathrow Airport has also closed air services for 24 hours on friday (March 21) and all flights to and from the airport have been cancelled. Due to which global air travel has been affected. At the same time, after this incident, the train service going to the airport has also been suspended.


The airport posted a statement on X

Heathrow airport posted a statement on X saying, "Heathrow is facing a severe power shortage due to a fire in the electric substation supplying power to the airport." The statement further said, "After this accident, Heathrow will remain closed until 23:59 on friday (March 21) keeping in mind the safety of all our passengers and colleagues. Passengers are advised not to travel to the airport and contact the airlines for any further information. We apologize for the inconvenience."

A Heathrow airport spokesperson said in a statement to CNN, "We expect to face problems for several days to come and passengers should not travel to the airport under any circumstances until the airport reopens."

The airport told Al Jazeera, "We are trying to prevent passengers from traveling to the airport. Apart from this, we are talking to our airline partners about delayed, diverted and canceled flights. Passengers can contact our airline partners for rebooking."

London fire Brigade gave information

CNN quoted London Fire Brigade in its report, "A power substation caught fire on thursday (March 20) night in Hayes, located just a few miles from the airport. This has disrupted power supply to 16 thousand homes in the area. However, the cause of the fire has not been ascertained yet." Flight tracking website Flightradar24 said, "Global air service has been affected due to the closure of the airport. About 1351 flights have been affected by this incident."
