One precious metal is gold.  Gold has been a crucial element in history from the past.  for mining, trade, artifacts, etc.  Gold investments are still regarded as sound financial investments today. Did you know that there is a location where anyone can obtain natural gold, even if the government has its own gold mining resources?  It sounds unreal, doesn't it?  If legend is to be believed, there is a river in india that runs with gold!  It has no connection to mythology. This 474-kilometer indian river is referred to as a "storehouse of gold."

The River of gold in India
The Subarnarekha River is the name of this gold-flowing river. It means "streak of gold" if you follow its etymology. The Subarnarekha River flows through the eastern indian states of West Bengal, Jharkhand, and portions of Odisha.  The river's source is the village of Nagdi, which is 16 kilometers from Ranchi, the capital of Jharkhand, on the Chhota nagpur plateau.

Although pure gold has always been discovered in riverbeds, its origin and the reason for its presence are still unknown.  It is currently ascribed to the mountainous areas from whence it comes. The river meanders over plains in the shape of Hundru Falls as it passes through Jharkhand, West Bengal, and odisha before falling into the Bay of Bengal. gold particles can also be found in the sand of the Subarnarekha River and its tributary, the Kharkari River.

Are you wondering how to get the gold out?  Except for the monsoon season, the extraction procedure is carried out year-round, according to a Times of india story.  In addition to being given jobs, the villagers and tribal people in the vicinity assist in filtering the sand and removing the gold from the riverbed.  The gold particles are about the size of a grain of rice, sometimes much smaller, and at the river's bottom, sieves are used to sort the sand.

Did you know that the city of Tatanagar is situated in the confluence of the Subarnarekha and Kharkai rivers?
