A young spinner from kerala had his moment of reckoning last week as the indian Premier League's new season got underway.  When 24-year-old Malappuram left-arm wrist spinner Vignesh Puthur took the field for the mumbai Indians, he did more than just play—he made an announcement.  Puthur, a left-arm wrist spinner from Malappuram, kerala, shook up CSK's middle order and emerged as MI's most influential bowler in their thrilling opening match, but he was unable to stop the team from losing by a slim margin.

Despite being Mumbai's Impact Player, Puthur's performance was far from being that of a rookie.  His initial discovery?  Ruturaj Gaikwad, the captain and batting mainstay of CSK, is a huge one.

Gaikwad died while attempting to tackle him, lofting a long-range delivery directly into Will Jacks' hands.  Puthur wasn't finished, though. shivam Dube, a player who is renowned for destroying spinners, was his next victim. Puthur's cunning allowed him to throw a mishit shot straight to Tilak varma at long-on. The mumbai Indians' gamble on the young spinner had paid off nicely when deepak Hooda followed shortly after; he took three wickets in his debut and established himself as a new name in the IPL.
