According to authorities on Sunday, a guy in Baghpat, Uttar Pradesh, was detained and imprisoned for reportedly using a sharp object to kill his father and disposing of the body in a nearby forest. Officials claim that after a domestic argument, the accused, Vedpal, killed his father, Ishwar, by slicing his throat with a shovel. He said during questioning that Ishwar committed the crime as a result of an extramarital affair with his daughter-in-law, Vedpal's wife.
Vedpal went on to say that his father, a laborer, refused to give him money to pay back bank loan installments because of the affair and instead gave his wife all of his salary. He first filed a complaint against unidentified individuals in an attempt to deceive investigators.
"Ishwar was a laborer who lived in Basoud village. Late on friday night, his son killed him by slitting his throat. After police arrived on the scene and sent the body for a post-mortem, the victim's son filed a complaint against unidentified individuals, according to Additional Superintendent of police, Baghpat, N.P. Singh.
Investigators, however, believed that a close relative may have been involved. Vedpal confessed after police arrested and interrogated him as suspicion mounted. Singh went on to say that he confessed to the crime and revealed his motivation. Investigations are still in progress.
