After crucial evidence found on the mirror of a washing machine was used to convict a South Korean man of raping his ex-girlfriend, he was sentenced to seven years in prison. A 39-minute CCTV recording of the assault, which was reflected off the lid of a nearby washing machine, was provided by the victim.

After being found guilty of multiple sexual offenses, including raping his ex-girlfriend, the man, who was in his twenties, was initially given an eight-year prison sentence. After hearing his appeal, the Seoul High Court, however, lowered the sentence to seven years in light of a settlement the man had reached with one of his other victims. The fact that he had no criminal history was also taken into account by the court.

The most important evidence from CCTV footage
He was accused of raping the victim six times between april and march of last year.  After discovering graphic images of him with other women on his phone, she ended their relationship.

Initially, the woman's witness was crucial to the case. Later, the victim produced CCTV evidence showing the assault on the plastic cover of a washing machine in the room. To confirm the evidence of the crime, the tape was sent to the supreme Prosecutors' office for forensic analysis.

In the end, the man entered a guilty plea to the rape. He was also charged with other offenses, such as having sex with a juvenile and allegedly raping an ex-girlfriend. He will still be imprisoned for his crime for seven years despite the sentence reduction.

After being released, the person must wear an ankle tag for seven years.  In addition, he has a seven-year ban from working in child and juvenile facilities.
