Delays for H1B visas still plague thousands of Indians. Recently, several applicants have complained that their passports are still missing although their visa status is remained at "Approved." According to one applicant, on february 25th, they had a Dropbox appointment in Hyderabad. On february 27th, their status was updated to "Approved," but they haven't received any updates since.

The fact that the H1B employee has a return flight in two days further adds to their concerns.  "I tried checking with US embassy Chennai, they cannot say anything on processing time," they stated in a social media post, providing more information.  On march 10th, a different candidate had their initial interview for H1B stamping.  Their passport hasn't been issued even after a week, despite the visa being approved immediately.

The applicant claims that their paperwork was "clean" with only "one employer from the day of graduation," but they are unsure about what is causing this delay.  Their job may suffer as a result of the delays, which is making them more anxious.  The indian H1B would have to take a leave of absence and deduct money from their pay because they had a flight scheduled for this week.  They assert that this can potentially have an impact on their business performance review.

Delays like these are not only annoying when people's employment are at stake, but they are now costing them their careers.  The US embassy has not provided any clarification despite numerous instances of such delays.  How long are these instances, according to many, stuck in administrative processing or security checks?  The system has to be improved, particularly in light of the annual volume of indian applicants.
