Bharat Jain, a guy from Mumbai, has been named the richest beggar in the world after it was discovered that he had amassed an incredible wealth of Rs. 7.5 crore through begging alone. To supplement his income, he also owns a stationery store and two apartments valued at Rs. 1.5 crore. Jain is steadfast in his resolve to continue begging despite his family's displeasure.

The surprisingly lucrative begging sector in india, where some people choose to beg since it pays more than many normal professions, is illuminated by his story.  In Mumbai, Jain people are frequently observed begging at azad Maidan and the Chhatrapati shivaji Maharaj Terminus.  He has made enough money over the years to invest in a variety of real estate ventures, such as downtown stores and flats.

Jain was born into a low-income household, struggled with hunger and poverty as a child, and was unable to pay for an education.  He resorted to begging to survive, a choice that ultimately changed his family's financial circumstances. He has been begging for 10 to 12 hours every day for about 40 years, making between Rs. 2,000 and Rs. 2,500 per day.  He is richer than many salaried professionals, thanks to this, earning between Rs. 60,000 and Rs. 75,000 a month.

A shrewd investor and a committed beggar
Bharat Jain has shown himself to be a shrewd investor and astute businessman despite his poverty.  He lives with his wife, two sons, father, and brother in two apartments he bought with his money, totaling Rs. 1.4 crore.  In addition, he has two stores in thane that bring in Rs. 30,000 a month in rent.

Jain's sons are able to attend a reputable convent school because of his financial prosperity.  They currently assist in managing the stationery store owned by the family.  But even though Jain is financially secure, she still begs.  He merely responds, "I enjoy begging and don't want to stop," when asked why he hasn't given it up.

Jain characterized himself as giving rather than avaricious in an interview with Economic Times.  He revealed that he frequently makes charitable and temple donations.  According to him, begging is a chosen career with set working hours and steady income rather than a last resort.

The Enterprise World claims that there are other affluent beggars in india besides Jain.  According to reports, krishna Kumar Gite of Nala Sopara owns a room valued at Rs. 7 lakh, which he shares with his brother, while Laxmi Das of kolkata is said to have a net worth of Rs. 1 crore.

Indian Begging Industry
India has one of the highest rates of begging in the world, with over 400,000 habitual beggars living there.  With more than 81,000 beggars, West bengal is at the top of the list, followed by andhra pradesh and Uttar Pradesh.

Some beggars, like the Bharat Jain, view begging as a lucrative career, while many are motivated by poverty, handicap, or unfavorable life circumstances.  For those like him, begging provides a steady and lucrative income that is occasionally even more fulfilling than traditional employment.
