
Ziona, who was born on July 21, 1945, was the head of the Chana Pawl (Chhuanthar) religious group. His grandpa, Khuangtuaha, who was expelled from Hmawngkawn hamlet in 1942, formed this cult. After that, Ziona's family moved to Baktawng village, which is roughly 55 kilometers away from Aizawl. Khuangtuaha was replaced as the leader of the cult by his father, Chana, and Ziona later succeeded him.
Ziona's enormous family became well-known throughout the world. It appeared in magazines like The Wall Street Journal in 2011 and london World Records in 2019, and the World Record Academy named it the largest family in the world.
Ziona constructed a four-story home in Baktawng called "Chhuan Thar Run" to house his massive family. Since then, this mansion has grown in popularity as a tourist destination. At the age of 17, Ziona wed Zathiangi, his first wife. He was three years his junior. In 2004, he got married for the last time.
When Ziona was 75 years old, he was diagnosed with both hypertension and diabetes, which he had been fighting. He became quite sick on june 7, 2021, and by june 11, anemia had rendered him unconscious. On june 13, he was sent to Trinity Hospital in Aizawl, but ten minutes after his admission, he was tragically pronounced dead.
Ziona had been receiving treatment at home in Baktawng for three days, but his condition deteriorated and he passed away, according to Dr. Lalrintluanga Zahau, the hospital's director.
Several political figures sent their condolences after his death, including Zoramthanga, the then-chief minister, Lal Thanhawla, the head of the Congress, and Lalduhoma, the leader of the Zoram People's Movement (ZPM).
