Unexpectedly, Prithviraj's recent commendation of Mohanlal's commitment to pulling out his own stunts has generated debate in tollywood circles. prithviraj emphasized Mohanlal's dedication to performing action scenes without the use of body doubles or face replacements while promoting L2: Empuraan.

In order to verify that every stunt was actually executed by mohanlal himself, he even urged fans to stop and look closely at sequences on OTT platforms.  Some telugu fans took Prithviraj's statements as a covert attack at tollywood stars, despite the fact that they looked sincere.  The overuse of body doubles in recent telugu movies, particularly during action scenes, has drawn increasing criticism.

For example, the stunt duplicates of prabhas were featured in Adipurush, Salaar, and kalki in the year 2898 AD.  An entire battle sequence between prabhas and amitabh bachchan was even done by stunt performers, according to a kalki making video.  According to sources, NTR's body double acted out the tough interval battle action in Devara.  Even in pushpa 2, Allu Arjun's doppelganger is said to have performed the opening battle scene.  Recent works by pawan kalyan have also come under fire for using stunt doubles excessively.

Although not exclusive to tollywood, the prevalence of behind-the-scenes recordings has increased the susceptibility of telugu celebrities to criticism.  Prithviraj's remarks may not have been meant to provoke, but they have inadvertently fueled ongoing fan arguments concerning action sequence authenticity.
