Following its february 14, 2025, theatrical release, the period drama Chhaava, starring vicky kaushal and rashmika mandanna, has been an overwhelming hit. With almost ₹350 crore in global box office receipts, the movie continues to do well, demonstrating how popular historical epics are with audiences.

Two months after its initial theatrical release, on april 11, 2025, Chhaava will be made available digitally on Netflix due to its ongoing success at the box office.  Official confirmation is still pending, though. The producers' ability to extend the film's theatrical run is called into question by this decision. Delaying the OTT release by a few weeks would have maximized box office receipts given the movie's steady popularity.

However, Netflix's strict adherence to the traditional 8-week window most likely prevented such flexibility.  Furthermore, Chhaava might have been able to stay in theaters for a longer amount of time due to the upcoming release of rashmika Mandanna's Sikandar, which might not do well at the box office. The movie will reach more people who were unable to watch it on the big screen or who would like to see it again thanks to its OTT release.  Since viewers will prefer to see it at home, this move will marginally reduce theater income even if it will undoubtedly increase availability.
