Hyderabad Mother Drowns 13-Day-Old Infant In Bucket Of Water, Fakes Drama: 'Didn't Know How To Care'

The mother, Vijji, justified her actions by stating that her husband suffers from kidney failure and other health issues, and she felt overwhelmed and unable to care for the newborn.

Days after a 13-day-old infant was found dead under suspicious circumstances in IDA Bandlaguda, the mother of the baby has been arrested for allegedly drowning her newborn daughter in a water bucket. On Tuesday, while Mani, the infant’s father, was at work, the mother Vijji called him, informing him that their daughter was found in a bucket full of water.


Panicked, Mani rushed home and took the baby to the hospital, where doctors pronounced her dead on arrival. 

Mother Confesses To Crime

Mailardevpally police reported that on march 25, a man filed a complaint stating that unknown persons had thrown his 14-day-old baby girl into a water bucket in the bathroom while her mother was away bathing.


However, during the investigation, police uncovered that the baby’s mother, Arogya Vijji, was responsible for the crime.


"The parents of the deceased are natives of tamil Nadu and have been residing in hyderabad for four years. They also have a one-year-old son. The mother, Arogya Vijji, gave birth to the baby girl on march 11. During the investigation, she confessed to throwing the baby into the water bucket, falsely claiming it was done by unknown individuals,said the Inspector of Mailardevpally police Station.


Vijji justified her actions by stating that her husband suffers from kidney failure and other health issues, and she felt overwhelmed and unable to care for the newborn.


Following Vijji’s confession, she was arrested and produced in court

This tragic incident mirrors a similar case from 2022 in Jangaon, Telangana, where a woman threw her one-year-old daughter into a water sump and attempted to cover up the crime by staging a fake robbery.
