
In a social media footage, the crowd is shown forcing their way into the dargah, taking down the green flag, and raising a saffron one in its stead. As the flag was raised, some people could be heard cheering and others screaming "Jai Shree Ram."
Police did nothing, alleges resident
MaktoobMedia cited a local as saying, "They threw stones at our homes and shouted offensive slogans against us." "The police were right there, passively observing as they attacked the dargah and raised the saffron flag. They took no action to prevent them.
Images of black paint splashed on a statue of shivaji Maharaj near the Buwasind baba Talim went viral on social media earlier that day, sparking the commotion. Protests broke out as word got out, attracting sizable crowds. Maktoob media claims that the violence went beyond the dargah, with neighbors describing attacks on Muslim homes as intentional and targeted, as well as instances of stone-pelting close to the mosque.
No arrests have been made yet.
Although more security personnel have apparently been sent in by the police, no one has been taken into custody in relation to the stone-throwing or mob attack.
