Cyanide Mallika - India's first convicted female serial killer presented herself as a Hardcore Hindu

Kempamma lived in the village of Kaggalipura, which is close to Bangalore. She operated a chit-finance company and was married to a tailor. However, her demise was caused by financial difficulties. She was kicked out of her family home, her husband abandoned her, and her business failed. She started stealing little items and working as a maid by 1998. However, her crimes quickly took a dark turn.
She started preying on women who appeared troubled while they were at temples. She pretended to be a helpful advisor and assured them that she would use secret rituals to fix their difficulties. She would give them cyanide-laced water after these rites. She took their valuables when they passed away. In 1999, a 30-year-old woman named Mamatha Rajan became her first known victim.
After being arrested for theft for the first time in 2000, Kempamma was only imprisoned for six months. She started committing crimes again after being freed, killing five women in 2007. In december 2008, she was apprehended by the police while attempting to sell jewels that had been stolen. She admitted to her actions while operating under the moniker Jayamma, stating that her primary motivation was robbery.
For two murders, Kempamma received death sentences; however, one of those sentences was ultimately lowered to life in prison because of circumstantial evidence. Her tale is still among the scariest in indian criminal history.
