The Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), which is led by Vijay, a part-time politician, has been the target of harsh social media criticism ever since its inaugural general council meeting was successfully concluded recently. TVK was widely ridiculed for its juvenile and unconvincing behavior during the event, despite Vijay's strong ambitions to become the next chief minister and establish the party as the main opposition to the current DMK.

The moment TVK's General Secretary, Bussy anand, took the platform was one instance in particular that attracted the attention of online users. Rather than confronting urgent political concerns, denouncing the opposition, or talking about the state's governance difficulties, he told a "Balloon Story."

According to the story, a party official and devoted fan lost a balloon to the police and asked anand for assistance in getting it back. social media users have been making fun of TVK and its important officials for the past 24 hours after this unexpected and seemingly insignificant statement.

Who are the True Cadre of Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam?

Bussy anand, the general secretary of TVK, claims that district Secretary Dhamu is an example of a sincere Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) supporter.  Anand described an occasion when Dhamu was adamant about getting back a balloon that had been stolen by the police and had the face of actor-turned-part-time-politician Vijay.  He insisted on taking back the same balloon, signifying his unshakable devotion to the leader, and refused to take any other.

"I am really grateful to the district Secretary, Brother Dhamu, right now," Bussy anand stated during TVK's inaugural general council meeting on march 28, 2025.  You have probably noticed how beautifully everything has been set up on behalf of Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam, including the posters and banners. I also want to express my gratitude to the executives who worked with him. In addition to that, Dhamu had a specific worry.

He said, "Brother, I let go of a balloon. Please get it back for me." I told him, "It's just a balloon, let it go." But he responded, "If it were an ordinary balloon, I would have left it. But they (the police) took the balloon with my leader's picture on it, and I want you to get it back for me." I replied, "That's what our lawyers are for. We can get it back whenever we want." Yet, he insisted, "No, no! I need my leader's balloon, get it for me immediately." So, I would like to say that such an unwaveringly true and ardent cadre is Dhamu."

After this, internet users started making fun of the party and its leaders, pointing out the mindset of its members.  At a time when tamil Nadu is facing severe problems like sexual assaults, drug misuse, oppression, and an increase in crime, the general secretary of TVK and its supporters were more focused on getting a balloon from the police. Bussy Anand's statement that "this is why TVK's legal wing exists" only served to heighten the mockery, as other internet users harshly criticized the party's priorities and tone.
