The difficulty with historical dramas is that they can never be entirely true to life. history is subjective; depending on who is narrating it, the same event may be viewed from many angles. In order to create a more engaging story, filmmakers frequently take artistic license, occasionally leaving out or changing facts. Following the release of Chhaava, Hindu fanatics had a violent reaction and started disparaging the Mughal emperors.

Will the movie Phule, which tells the story of the pioneering reformer Jyotiba Phule, suffer the same fate?  The upcoming movie Phule, directed by Pratik gandhi and Patralekhaa, is scheduled to be released on april 11, 2025, which is also mahatma Jyotirao Phule's 197th birthday.

It illuminates the extraordinary path taken by these two trailblazers who devoted their lives to promoting equality and education in India. indian author and social reformer Jyotirao Phule was a fervent supporter of underrepresented groups, such as women and low-income workers.

He was a strong opponent of the Hindu caste system as well.  Savitribai Phule, his wife, was a trailblazer in the field of women's education. She broke social conventions by becoming India's first female teacher and founding a school for girls with her husband in 1848. They made enormous contributions, and their influence may still be seen today.

However, will Phule be accepted by the Maharashtrian audience or will it be rejected due to historical errors?  The movie may encounter criticism and controversy if it questions strongly held beliefs or makes viewers face difficult realities.  Will this movie find a place in a time when artistic expression is being threatened more and more? Or will it be suppressed and forgotten before it even gets a chance to be watched, as is the case with many other films that provoke thought?
