Like salt in the sea, generosity and ratan tata are interwoven, inherent, and limitless. The man who established a business based on compassion has made sure that his legacy of giving endures even in his absence. The Economic Times stated that the distribution of Ratan Tata's riches was made clear by his will, with charities receiving the greatest portion.

The majority of the industrialist's wealth, including his Tata Sons shares, was donated to philanthropic organizations after his death on october 9, 2024.  He also remembered his staff, close friends, family, and even his cherished pets.

A no-contest clause is included in Tata's will before we get into the specifics.  Anyone who contests the will "shall forego all the rights or benefits" under it, according to the document.  According to The Times of india, Tata's will states, "He or she shall have no right whatsoever over any part of my estate."

MAJORITY OF WEALTH GOES TO CHARITY
Ratan Tata gave the ratan tata Endowment Foundation and the ratan tata Endowment Trust a sizable chunk of his estimated Rs 3,800 crore fortune.  The money will be used for philanthropic endeavors by these two nonprofit organizations.

In addition to his stake in Tata Sons, Tata made investments in real estate, equities, and other financial products.  On february 23, 2022, he signed his will, which contains four codicils—legal documents that permit changes to a will.  Any unallocated shares, investments, or assets would likewise be given to these charitable trusts, according to the final codicil.

FAMILY AND CLOSE ASSOCIATES INCLUDED
Tata prioritized philanthropy, but he also gave his half-sisters Shireen and Deanna Jejeebhoy a third of his other assets, which included securities, bank fixed deposits (FDs), and collectibles valued at Rs 800 crore.

A third of these assets were left to mohini M. Dutta, a close friend of ratan tata and a former employee of the Tata Group.

Jimmy Naval Tata, his 82-year-old brother, was also named in the will.  He will get some jewelry, silver items, and a portion of Tata's Juhu house.

Tata's Alibaug property and three firearms, including a.25 bore pistol, have been given to Mehli Mistry, a close friend.  According to the will, Mistry was "instrumental in making this property possible" and hoped it would remind them of their happy moments together.

Lawyer Darius Kambatta, Mehli Mistry, Shireen Jejeebhoy, and Deanna Jejeebhoy are all participating in the will's execution.

They have already petitioned the bombay high court to have the will probated.  Through the legal process of probate, a court confirms a deceased person's will, enabling the executors to allocate the inheritance in accordance with the terms.  Before any wealth is distributed, the procedure might take up to six months.

PETS AND STAFF REMEMBERED

Tata's will is a testament to his well-known love of animals.  He made sure that each of his pets received Rs 30,000 per quarter for their maintenance by setting aside Rs 12 lakh as a fund for them.

Furthermore, Tata revoked loans he had already made:

His executive assistant, Shantanu Naidu, had taken out a student debt that will now be forgiven.

His neighbor Jake Malite was granted an interest-free college loan, which will also be forgiven.

Tata's foreign assets are estimated to be worth approximately Rs 40 crore, according court documents. These consist of shares in Alcoa Corp. and Howmet Aerospace, bank accounts with Morgan Stanley and Wells Fargo, and land parcels in the Seychelles.

His will also contained his own collection of high-end timepieces.  There are 65 timepieces in this collection from brands including Audemars Piguet, Tissot, Patek Philippe, and Bvlgari.

A company connected to Tata's commercial ventures, RNT Associates singapore, has been given ownership of his estate in the Seychelles.  Additionally, his will stipulates that R Venkatraman and Patrick McGoldrick's stakes in RNT Associates india and RNT Associates singapore must be safeguarded.
