On april 2, which he refers to as "Liberation Day" for America, US President donald trump is scheduled to enact new tariffs. Countries that impose high tariffs on US goods or have restrictive trade policies that the white house deems unfair will be the focus of these penalties.

Even though the specifics of the tariffs are still unknown, some countries are anticipated to be the most affected by the new policies.  The increased tariffs are perceived as a reaction to Trump's administration's repeated claims that current trade regulations favor foreign nations over the US.

WHO ARE THE DIRTY 15?
The 15% of US trading partners that apply high tariffs and other trade barriers on American goods are known as the "Dirty 15," according to US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent.  Data from the US Commerce Department's 2024 trade imbalance report offers some hints, even though Bessent did not reveal the precise list of these countries.  The following nations have the largest goods trade deficits with the United States, per the report:

China
European Union
Mexico
Vietnam
Ireland
Germany
Taiwan
Japan
South Korea
Canada
India
Thailand
Italy
Switzerland
Malaysia
Indonesia

These countries collectively account for a major portion of the US trade imbalance and are expected to face the most significant impact from the new tariffs.
