Leaders in the bjp do not vie for the position of party leader. A party president is chosen by all of us together. K annamalai categorically ruled out standing for the party's tamil Nadu state presidency on Friday, saying, "I'm not in that race for that post." "I want the party to have a bright future," annamalai told reporters in Coimbatore. Numerous people have sacrificed their lives to help this party flourish. I always hope this celebration goes well.

"I am not in the race for the next state president," he declared, clearly distancing himself from the procedure.  I will not comment on political conjecture.  I don't belong to any race.

In his article, senior writer TS Sudhir had mentioned that Annamalai's resignation as the head of the BJP's tamil Nadu faction was certain. Sudhir claims that although Annamalai's exit would be presented as a caste-based decision, it actually represented his increasing importance inside the party.

After being outspoken about the BJP's partnership with the AIADMK, annamalai recently moderated his criticism of the regional party.  He had, however, kept quiet regarding the specifics of the same.  "The home minister has made a statement. At the time, he had stated, "Please consider his response the last word on the subject."

His perspective changed during a meeting in delhi between Union home minister amit shah and AIADMK General Secretary Edappadi Palaniswami (EPS).

A significant divide between the bjp and the AIADMK was created in 2023 by K Annamalai's harsh criticism of AIADMK leaders J jayalalithaa and CN Annadurai, as well as his adamant rejection to any cooperation with Dravidian parties.  Both parties consequently ran independently in the 2024 lok sabha elections and were soundly defeated.

Despite losing all of its seats in tamil Nadu, the BJP's vote share increased significantly under Annamalai's leadership.  By persistently bringing up issue after issue, annamalai, a former IPS officer, also made sure the bjp was visible throughout the state and maintained the party's prominence.

. Both annamalai and AIADMK leader Edappadi Palaniswami belong to the Gounder community from western tamil Nadu. Replacing annamalai with someone from another caste or region could help the bjp reach a wider voter base, mused Sudhir.
