
PM Modi honored with Sri Lanka Mitra Vibhushan Award!
Prime minister Narendra Modi arrived in Colombo on friday (April 4) evening on a three-day visit. Where five top ministers including Sri Lankan Foreign minister Vijitha Herath, health minister Nalinda Jayatissa and Fisheries minister Ramalingam chandrasekhar were present at the airport to give him a special welcome. prime minister Modi was welcomed with state honors. He was given a guard of honor and a 21-gun salute at Independence Square. This was the fourth occasion of his visit to Sri Lanka. This time PM Modi was awarded the sri lanka Mitra Vibhushan Award. This is the highest civilian honor of the Sri Lankan government which is given to foreign dignitaries who have played a special friendship with Sri Lanka.
On receiving the highest civilian honor of the Sri Lankan government, PM Modi said that this honor belongs to 140 crore Indians. This reflects the deep friendship and shared values between sri lanka and India. This honour confirms that india is not just a neighbour, but a "true friend".
Economic and development cooperation: Projects worth Rs 10,000 crore
Not only diplomatic relations, but ground development projects are also going on between india and Sri Lanka. Prime minister Modi mentioned many important development projects in his speech. He said that india will provide direct support to Sri Lankan farmers. He announced housing and social schemes worth Rs 10,000 crore for the indian Origin tamil (IOT) community. Ambitious agreement signed
Prime minister Narendra Modi and Sri Lankan President Anura Kumara Dissanayake signed an ambitious agreement on defence cooperation for the first time on saturday (April 5). Both sides also signed an agreement to develop Trincomalee as an energy hub. Another agreement was signed to extend New Delhi's multi-sectoral grant assistance to the eastern region of Sri Lanka. prime minister Modi and President Dissanayake also inaugurated the Sampur Solar Energy Project through digital medium.
