Tahira Kashyap, a writer and filmmaker, announced her cancer diagnosis in a statement posted on instagram on Monday.  Seven years after overcoming breast cancer for the first time, the 42-year-old is again suffering a return.

Kashyap, who is also the wife of actor Ayushmann Khurrana, dubbed her relapse "round two" of the struggle and raised awareness about the importance of routine mammograms in her social media post. The saying 'when life offers you lemons, make lemonade' was used by her to convey that she would approach the second battle with a positive attitude.

A part of the caption on her post read, "#regularscreening #mammogram not shying away from saying it #breastcancer #onemoretime #letsgo. Ironically or not, today is #WorldHealthDay Let’s do whatever we can in our capacity to take care of ourselves. #gratitude through and through (sic)."

In 2018, Kashyap received her initial breast cancer diagnosis.  She is well-known for directing her first film, "Sharmaji Ki Beti," and she has consistently promoted awareness of the illness. By revealing her own surgical scars, she has also been spearheading body positivity campaigns.  During her first chemotherapy session, Kashyap also accepted her baldness and declined to cover it up with a wig.

She discussed having a mastectomy in an interview with Filmfare earlier this year. She also revealed that her parents stopped talking to her when she released pictures of herself looking bald on social media. "When I posted a picture of myself with a bald head (following the cancer diagnosis), my parents became very upset with me," she stated. They wouldn't speak to me and were pressuring me to remove my baldness since, to them, it somehow symbolizes disaster.

When her parents didn't understand what "celebrating an illness" meant, Kashyap recalled telling them she wanted to "celebrate" that stage of her life.
