A horrific instance has surfaced from Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, where a Class 12 student claims that between march 29 and april 4, more than 20 males gang-raped her. According to reports, the child, who is getting ready to be admitted to a sports course, vanished on march 29. The experience apparently started when a friend took her to a hookah establishment in the Pishachmochan district.

The girl told the police that she was sexually abused by multiple guys at various hotels in the Sigra neighborhood of the city after being served a cold drink that had been tampered with at the hookah bar.  She knew a few of the accused; they were either people she had connected with on instagram or former classmates.

On april 4, the girl's relatives reported her missing, and that same day, she was located.  The youngster and her family did not file a sexual assault complaint at the time.  An FIR was registered after they made a formal complaint at the Lalpur police station on april 6. Eleven of the 23 men named in the FIR remain unidentified, according to the police.  Six people have been arrested so far to be questioned.

The police are also questioning employees of the hookah lounge and reviewing local CCTV footage to confirm the girl's story and identify the individuals involved. The investigation is still ongoing, according to Varuna Zone DCP Chandra Kant Meena, who stated that the girl had first gone out alone with a companion.  He added that the girl is not a minor, in contrast to what several media outlets have reported.

Authorities are under pressure to guarantee that strong action is taken because the issue has caused outrage and alarm.  There are ongoing legal processes.
