When NTR's Devara was released on september 27 of last year, it was expected to be a huge box office hit, with producers reporting that it brought in over 400 crores globally. The film, which was directed by koratala siva, was a disappointment, leaving viewers disappointed rather than eager for a follow-up.
 
NTR and hrithik roshan are currently finishing up war 2.  Additionally, he will work on Dragon with kgf director Prashanth Neel, and there are rumors that he is working on another movie with Jailer director Nelson Dilipkumar.  Whether Devara 2 will go on floors after Dragon or Nelson's project is currently the main question.  The release date for Devara 2 is still unknown because of Neel's track record of lengthy production timelines.

But during Devara's recent marketing in Japan, ntr stoked rumors.  "The first part only showed a glimpse of the story," he said.  It will be a much larger sequel.  Part 2 will give you a true understanding of Vara, while Part 1 taught you about Devara.  He is not a typical individual, and koratala siva is developing his persona in a unique manner.
 
Even NTR's most ardent supporters are dubious, despite the fact that these claims are meant to create excitement.  Devara's finale was similarly spellbound by ntr last year, who described the final forty minutes as a "rocking experience" full of strong action and emotions.  It ended on a manufactured cliffhanger rather than an organic high, though, and viewers felt it was unfinished and annoying.  NTR is now making another effort to create suspense with Devara 2.  Fans are wary this time, though.  The lack of enthusiasm for the sequel makes one wonder if it will ever be produced at all or if it will simply die out.
