She discusses three vital health tests that every indian should get in a video that was posted on Instagram. She asserts that investing a small amount in these tests now will help you steer clear of serious health issues and expensive procedures down the road.
Tests indians must take for better health
1. vitamin D test
"Over 70-90% of indians are low in vitamin D, and women are more prone to this deficiency," Rashi says in the caption. D is more than just a vitamin. It functions more like a hormone and is important for mood, fertility, immunity, and even weight reduction.
In the clip, she states that "80% of indians walk around with weak bones, low energy, brain fog, being stressed, or just ageing, whereas it's actually a vitamin D deficiency." Additionally, the dietitian cautions: "The bad news is that taking Metformin, Statins, and Tacits on a daily basis, as many of you do, may further deplete your D3 levels. Actually, half as quickly as usual.
The ideal range for vitamin D levels is 60–70 ng/ml.
When to use supplements of vitamin D:
Rashi advises, "Don't just pop it any time," "Take it first thing in the morning with fat. How to have it best. It can ruin your sleep and somewhat interact with melatonin, so avoid it at night unless you want to stay awake.
2. HbA1c & fasting insulin
According to Rashi Chowdhary, "50% of indians have something called by the name of silent diabetes." She illustrates further symptoms with a picture of a neck with black patches:
Dark spots on your neck, cravings for sweets, eating snacks right before or right after meals, wanting to snooze in the afternoon, and, of course, gaining weight. Guys, it's time to verify your numbers if this sounds familiar.
The dietitian offers the startling statistic in the caption: "There are currently 130 million diabetics in India. That figure was 70 million just six or seven years ago. Additionally, prediabetes doesn't always have clear symptoms; you may have it and be unaware of it until Type 2 diabetes strikes. Your best chance of stopping it is to test early.
Optimal HbA1c level: Less than 5.3
Optimal fasting insulin level: Less than 5 mlU/L
What to do?
"If your levels are off, this is a sign that you need to tweak your rice, roti, millet, evening chai, and biscuits - all of that needs to change," the nutritionist advises.
3. Fatty liver screening
"You think that this is just fat, but most often this is a sign of fatty liver," Rashi adds, pointing to a picture of a round abdomen. Recognize that the accumulation of visceral fat surrounding your organs, particularly your liver, is the cause.
She clarifies that fatty liver can occur in people who are not overweight. "Even if you are not overweight, a firm, round, protruding belly is a classic symptom. Additionally, before it worsens, it's time to check your liver enzymes if you notice fat accumulation even around your neck.
"India is now the NAFLD capital of the world," the dietitian says in her caption. Diagnoses are being made for persons who are not overweight. You probably already have diabetes, insulin resistance, or PCOS, or you're at high risk for developing any of these conditions.
What to do?
"Check your albumin, ALT, and AST levels; if all of these are higher, it will indicate inflammation," advises Rashi Chowdhary. A healthy liver will have less than 5% fat, so you can even do a basic ultrasound. Grade 1 fatty liver is defined as having between 6 and 33% of fat, grade 2 as having between 34-66% of fat, and grade 3 as having more than 66, which indicates significant damage has occurred and can be dismissed.
She says, "Doing these four tests will actually save you from a whole lot of struggle later on."
