Sheikh Hasina's troubles increased! another arrest warrant...
A bangladesh court on thursday (April 10, 2025) issued a new arrest warrant against ousted prime minister Sheikh Hasina, her daughter Saima Wajid Putul and 17 others in a corruption case. They are accused of acquiring residential plots through fraud. Senior Special Judge of Dhaka Metropolitan zakir hussain Galib accepted the chargesheet filed by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC). Since the accused are absconding, the court issued an arrest warrant against them.
Warrant issued on ACC's chargesheet
Mir ahmed Salam, a lawyer appearing for ACC, told reporters, "Metropolitan Senior Special Judge zakir hussain Galib issued a warrant accepting the ACC's chargesheet in the case."
The case was registered on january 12, 2025
He said the judge has asked the ACC to submit its investigation report on May 4 for hearing the allegation related to the land leased by the state-run 'Rajdhani Unyan Kartripakkha' (RAJUK) in the Parbachal area on the outskirts of the capital Dhaka. The ACC filed a case on january 12, 2025 against ousted prime minister Hasina and other co-accused, most of whom were government officials.
What is this whole matter?
According to the chargesheet, Putul had influenced her mother and then prime minister Hasina to acquire the plot "with malicious intent". Putul has been working as the South east Asian Regional director of the World health Organization (WHO) based in New delhi since november 1, 2023.
After the coup in bangladesh, Sheikh Hasina fled from her country and came to India. Since then she has been in India. However, applications have been made on behalf of Sheikh Hasina for asylum in many countries around the world. She has also been refused asylum by many countries including Britain.
