To put things in perspective, the diva gained this title following the box office failure of her first tamil film, Idhu Enna Maayum. She subsequently starred in several other kollywood productions, although none of them were commercially successful.
As a result, many producers and directors referred to her as an unlucky actress. Such a name had a long-lasting effect on her because, in 2017, she was prepared to decline Nag Ashwin's film Mahanati, a significant blockbuster and a turning point in her career.
In an interview with Galatta India, Keerthy discussed that aspect of her career, saying, "I declined to take on the project when Nagi told the story. I was scared, but the producers were excited about me playing savitri Amma. "What if I ruin it?" I wondered. What if someone claims that I ruined such a legend's legacy? Everything else was overpowered by the anxiety of failure.
Although many were taken aback by her first choice, Keerthy clarified that she had initially turned down the movie due of her unsettling anxiety of the phrase "unlucky."
It was only after Nag Ashwin's overwhelming confidence in her that she added. "I was concerned about the reaction of her fans," Keerthy remarked. And what if they didn't like the way her story was told? At the moment, I saw nothing encouraging. However, Nagi's unflinching faith in my abilities, which was greater than my own, was what finally persuaded me.
