This inconsistent presence has led to a growing perception among the public and political commentators that Vijay is more of a “political clown” than a serious contender. His pattern of sporadic speeches—often directed at the ruling DMK—without a sustained follow-up or clear policy direction has raised questions about the authenticity of his political commitment. Political analyst Rangaraj Pandey was particularly scathing in his criticism, pointing out Vijay’s bizarre narrative where he projected the political contest as one between only DMK and TVK, completely sidelining ADMK—a party with a longstanding legacy in tamil Nadu politics. This selective portrayal not only raised eyebrows but also exposed what many feel is Vijay’s lack of political maturity and awareness of the broader landscape.
Even more recently, when the ADMK aligned with the BJP, Vijay’s criticism was again largely aimed at the DMK, with only a passing mention of the ADMK. This selective targeting has further cemented the belief that Vijay’s political strategy is not based on ideology or a deep understanding of public needs, but rather on carefully crafted optics. Critics argue that he’s trying to build a one-man narrative show, much like in his films, where he is portrayed as the lone savior fighting a corrupt system. However, politics isn’t a scripted performance, and as the public begins to demand accountability, clarity, and courage, Vijay’s evasiveness may hurt TVK’s credibility more than it helps.
