20,000 Litres of 'Liquid Gold' — maharashtra Residents Risk Lives After petrol Tanker Accident: WATCH

In Ahilya Nagar, maharashtra, locals risked their lives to collect petrol from an overturned tanker, despite the danger of fire.

Petrol is expensive in India, and people would do just about anything to get some 'free' petrol. This means even going to the extent of putting lives in danger. An incident came to the fore on Tuesday, april 15, morning when a petrol tanker overturned in Ahilya Nagar, Maharashtra.

The accident sparked chaos in the area as the driver lay injured and traffic was stopped. However, what was shocking was the locals' reaction. Instead of clearing the area to avoid fire from the highly flammable liquid, locals made a beeline to the tanker with buckets, bottles, and whatever container they could find.

Traffic was brought to a standstill due to the accident, but that did not deter the onlookers to grab containers and fill them with the precious liquid. The action of the locals was highly risky, especially at a time when maharashtra was under the vice grip of an intense heatwave.

Such petrol spills are extremely dangerous as the slightest spark could spark a massive fire or even an explosion.

The 20,000-liter petrol tanker overturned due to brake failure, reported news agency IANS. The driver of the tanker was injured in the accident.

Fire engines and police were alerted. Despite them reaching the scene, people continued to gather petrol. The traffic was blocked for nearly two hours.
