How is the appointment of ED Director done?
The appointment of ED Director is done as per the provisions of the Central Vigilance Act 2003. On the recommendation of the committee, the Center appoints a director, whose chairman is the Central Vigilance Commissioner. After the UPSC examination, candidates are selected through an interview. After this, the name of the selected candidates is sent to the ACC for final approval.
To whom does ED report
The Enforcement Directorate is controlled by the Revenue Department of Finance. In such a situation, the head of ED reports directly to the Revenue Department of the Finance Ministry. However, the Department of Economic Affairs is responsible for the policy aspects of FEMA. At the same time, the Revenue Department is responsible for all policy matters related to PMLA.
How is the cbi Chief appointed?
The appointment of the head of the cbi is done by a three-member appointment committee. This committee consists of the Prime Minister, the Chief Justice of the supreme court and the leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, who consider it.
