When gunmen opened fire on tourists gathered in a valley in pahalgam, kashmir - SRINAGAR/JAMMU' target='_blank' title='jammu and kashmir-Latest Updates, Photos, Videos are a click away, CLICK NOW'>jammu and kashmir, on tuesday afternoon, a family of five from pune, Maharashtra, was targeted in a terror attack. A shadow group connected to the Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Taiba has claimed responsibility for the incident, which happened as the family posed for pictures in traditional Kashmiri clothing.
 
The targeted shooting took place in a busy tourist area where many people had congregated to take pictures against the picturesque backdrop. One survivor, a woman from the pune family, told india Herald that the terrorists targeted Hindu visitors and shot them, giving a detailed account of what truly transpired at the attack site.
 
"The terrorists showed up out of nowhere and started shooting randomly.  Some of them started shooting, while others seized the Hindus who were there and had them say the Azan. She added that the attackers stated their faith was "in danger" due to the presence of Hindus. "Then they resumed firing and shot my father and uncle," she said.


She further likened the attack's methodology to the mumbai terror strike of 26/11.  "Only the males were attacked by the terrorists.  It was a lot like the events of the 26/11 mumbai attacks.  They wore printed masks that looked like those worn by army men, and their clothing were similar to that of the local police," she continued. 

At least 26 people are believed dead and numerous others injured when terrorists sprayed bullets at a well-known meadow near pahalgam on a busy tuesday afternoon in the bloodiest attack to hit kashmir - SRINAGAR/JAMMU' target='_blank' title='jammu and kashmir-Latest Updates, Photos, Videos are a click away, CLICK NOW'>jammu and kashmir since the 2019 Pulwama atrocity.
 
The verdant meadow of Baisaran, known as "mini Switzerland" because to its slopes fringed with pines, was transformed into a horrific scene just six kilometers from the popular tourist destination of Pahalgam.  According to officials and witnesses, armed terrorists broke into the grassland and started shooting at gullible visitors who were gathering around food vendors, riding ponies, or having a picnic.
