26 people have been killed in a terrorist attack in Pahalgam's Baisaran in Jammu and Kashmir. More than ten people injured in the attack are undergoing treatment. The bodies of the slain have been brought to Srinagar. Reports say that it may take up to 2 days to hand over the bodies after the post-mortem is conducted there. Modi, who was in saudi arabia at the time of the pahalgam attack, cut short his trip and arrived in india this morning after learning about the incident. Upon returning to india, he held discussions at the airport itself about the next step. Manjunath Rao, a real estate businessman from Shivamogga, karnataka, was shot dead in front of his wife in the pahalgam attack. Pallavi Rao, who witnessed her husband being shot dead by a terrorist in pahalgam, asked them to shoot her and her son. But the terrorist's response was shocking. "We will not kill you, go, tell Modi what happened..." he said and left.
Two tourists from karnataka were killed in the attack. Manjunath and Bharat bhushan were also killed along with him. Manjunath, 46, had gone to kashmir with his wife Pallavi for their first family vacation abroad. Manjunath booked the trip to kashmir only after his son Abhijit passed his class 12th exams. Manjunath and his family had gone to kashmir as part of a group from Shivamogga on april 19. Pallavi is the branch manager of the Purur branch of the Malnad Areca Marketing Cooperative Society. Manjunath Rao was shot dead by terrorists while he was going to buy food for his son.
A video of the two traveling has also surfaced, shortly before the attack. He said kashmir was very beautiful and expressed his happiness after taking a shikara ride with boatman Mohammed Rafique. Pallavi said that the terrorists targeted only men in the attack.
