In august 2025, wednesday season 2 will debut, bringing wednesday and her returning students along with new cast members Steven Buscemi, Thandiwe Newton, christopher Lloyd, and Lady Gaga.  It is the first time that wednesday "willingly" returns to a former school, as Morticia (Catherine Zeta-Jones) notes.  In addition to continuing her education and getting back together with friends like Enid Sinclair (Emma Myers) and Bianca Barclay (Joy Sunday), wednesday will undoubtedly face up against a new antagonist who is hinted to draw inspiration from classic horror films.

Wednesday Season 2 Teases A Masked Villain Associated With Creepy Dolls

Wednesday Is Forced To Sit With A Table Of horror Movie-Style Dolls

Wednesday is shown in the trailer for wednesday season 2 seated at a table in a run-down room, gagged and bound, with dolls arranged in all the other seats.  With its eyes wide, one of the dolls turns to face her.  After that, wednesday is seen getting to her feet, brandishing a knife, and saying, "Let's play dolls."  Later, she claims that the doll she shows Enid has real human hair.  In fact, it looks like this is the same doll that was at the table setting on her right side.

Additionally, the trailer briefly depicts a masked attacker who appears to teleport towards the person standing in front of the camera (probably Wednesday).  The dolls are probably a part of this season's evil plot, as evidenced by the connection between Wednesday's temporary captivity and the masked villain's only new humanoid threat.  Wednesday eludes detection and may even chop up some of the dolls, but he brings one back to Enid, who presents it as a gift, though perhaps wednesday is merely demonstrating to her the new villain's might.

What Does The Doll Villain Want In wednesday Season 2?

Wanting To Kill All The Outcasts Has Already Been Done, & Dolls Mean Something Else

According to Jenna Ortega, wednesday season 2 is expected to veer toward horror.  Although the genre is well-known for its killer dolls, the second installment of Netflix's popular series also introduces a new human antagonist.  Given how many A-list celebrities have been confirmed to appear in the cast in unidentified roles, it appears quite probable that someone is serving as a puppeteer for the lethal toys this season.  Thus, themes of perverted childish play and domination could be present in the upcoming season, undermining the villain's previous actions.

The plan put out by Marilyn Thornhill/Laurel Gates (Christina Ricci) was really simple: bring her ancestor Joseph Crackstone (William Houston) back to life and carry out his objective of murdering all the outcasts.  Therefore, it would be superfluous to introduce a new villain who shares the fundamental objective of eradicating outcasts because they despise all magical beings.  A villain that looks for a way to control the students at Nevermore (like dolls) and have their own army—for unknown reasons—might be more intriguing and reminiscent of a horror film.
