Torn Rupees .. Don't worry !!

Do not worry if you get a torn banknote. It is enough to do this. The full amount is available. Nowadays most people use ATM cards to withdraw money through ATM machines without going to the bank branch. We can withdraw money at any time through ATMs. But, many of us have come across torn notes while withdrawing money at ATMs. If that happens to you, you do not have to worry.
If the counterfeit or torn banknotes have been withdrawn from the ATM, you will have to lodge a complaint with the bank which owns the ATM where you took the money to replace them. In this complaint, the date, time, and place of withdrawal of money from the ATM should be mentioned. The receipt of money should also be attached. If you do not have a receipt, you will need to provide SMS details to your mobile phone.
As per the order of the Reserve bank, the concerned banks which issued the torn notes have to exchange them. State bank of India, India's largest public sector bank, has also announced this. So no bank can refuse to exchange counterfeit notes taken from ATMs.

If the banks refuse to convert beyond this, action will be taken against the bank employees. Based on the customer's complaint, the concerned bank will have to pay compensation of up to Rs.10,000.
