Namma Yatri Debuts Lifetime Zero-Commission Cab service on ONDC in delhi NCR

MovingTech, the developer behind the Namma Yatri app, has launched a pioneering lifetime zero-commission cab service under the “Yatri” brand in delhi NCR. This significant expansion builds on the app’s success as a community-driven transportation solution within the ONDC Network.

Yatri, India’s first open and community-focused cab and auto service app, has transitioned from its initial auto pilot phase to a full-scale cab service offering. The app operates on a zero-commission model, aimed at making transportation more affordable while increasing driver earnings by 15-20%. This model not only supports improved vehicle maintenance but also enhances safety through advanced features.

Shireesh Joshi, Chief business Officer of ONDC, commented, “ONDC’s open architecture and network-centric approach are fostering affordability and accessibility in transportation. This model levels the playing field for drivers, offering them higher earnings. We are committed to driving community-driven initiatives that place people at the center and move india towards smart, efficient, and inclusive mobility solutions.”

Yatri is designed as a fully open-source, open-network, and open-data platform. It features dynamic booking and smart dispatch processes, offering auto, AC Mini, AC Sedan, and AC XL Cab services at competitive rates. The ONDC Network aims to unify various transportation modes, including food, grocery, and e-commerce, under a single network.

Shan M S, Co-Founder of Namma Yatri, stated, “We are thrilled to extend our cab services in delhi NCR. Yatri is more than just an app; it represents a movement dedicated to transforming the lives of drivers and citizens. We are fostering collaboration between Samaaj, Sarkar, and Bazaar to create a more connected and empowered urban environment. To support the EV mission, we will not charge any subscription fees or commission for Electric Autos and Cabs in delhi NCR until march 2026.”

In a notable development, google has invested in MovingTech, the parent company of Namma Yatri. The investment aligns with Google’s broader strategy to accelerate wallet PLATFORM' target='_blank' title='digital-Latest Updates, Photos, Videos are a click away, CLICK NOW'>digital service adoption in india, with the company previously announcing plans to invest $10 billion over the next five to seven years.

Namma Yatri, which became an independent entity called MovingTech in April, was formerly a subsidiary of Juspay. CEO Magizhan Selvan and COO Shan M S, who previously worked with Juspay, now lead this new venture.

Competing against established players like Uber, Ola, and Swiggy-backed Rapido, Namma Yatri has quickly gained traction. The app has onboarded 49,000 auto drivers and 550,000 users in just five months, disbursing approximately INR 12 crores ($1.5 million) to drivers. It celebrated 500 million downloads in March. Although it currently lacks features like bike taxis and carpooling, future expansions are anticipated with Google’s backing.

The founders plan to utilize the new funds to bolster engineering and R&D capabilities, with plans to introduce additional transportation options, including buses. Google’s partnership aims to enhance its footprint in India’s transportation sector, potentially replicating its success in wallet PLATFORM' target='_blank' title='digital-Latest Updates, Photos, Videos are a click away, CLICK NOW'>digital payments.
