Reportedly the Employees Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) has issued a warning to crores of employees working in the organized sectors of the country to avoid increasing cyber fraud. EPFO has appealed to its members not to share the confidential information of their accounts with anyone. EPFO posted on its official social media platform X that the organization never asks its members for their account details. If a person claiming to be an employee of EPFO asks for Universal Account Number (UAN), password, PAN number, Aadhaar number, bank account details, or OTP through phone, email, message, or WhatsApp, then do not share it.
Meanwhile the organization has warned that cyber criminals can try to deceive employees by posing as EPFO officials. These criminals can misuse your confidential information and withdraw the money deposited in your provident fund account. If someone asks you for confidential information in the name of EPFO, be alert immediately and complain about it. Apart from this, EPFO has advised its members not to use cyber cafes or public devices for any process related to their account.
EPFO has suggested to the employees that they should use only their personal devices, such as laptop, computer, tablet or mobile phone, for all activities related to their account. This keeps the account information safe and reduces the risk of fraud. EPFO is constantly making employees aware through its official website and social media. The organization has emphasized on measures to avoid cybercrime, so that members' accounts and the money deposited in them remain safe.
