Prime Video Denies Making Any Edits To Shekhar Kapur's Bandit Queen


New Delhi, Mar 24 (PTI) High Video on monday issued an explanation in reaction to filmmaker Shekhar Kapur's claims that the streamer had chopped components of his film "Bandit Queen" without his permission, pronouncing it had not made any edits to the version to be had on the platform.


In an announcement, a Prime Video spokesperson stated the streaming version of the 1994 film was supplied via NH Studioz, its distributor.


"Prime Video has no longer made any edits to the version of the film Bandit queen presently streaming at the provider. The version to be had on Prime Video is the version furnished by way of the film's distributor, NH Studioz," the high video spokesperson said in a declaration.


On march 18, Kapur alleged that the streaming model of "Bandit Queen" is "unrecognizable" from the movie he initially directed and that it changed into edited without his permission.


"The Bandit queen on #AmazonPrime is unrecognizable from my film. A person has cut it past popularity. And it incorporates my name as Director. And no person requested me! Are we lesser beings than Western administrators? Might they have the center cut a chris Nolan movie without his permission?" he wrote.


The significantly acclaimed "Bandit Queen" revolved around the life of Phoolan Devi, the dreaded Chambal dacoit, who grew to become a member of Parliament. Actor seema biswas played the titular function inside the movie, which generated a massive global buzz following its ideal in the administrators' Fortnight section of the 1994 Cannes film competition.
