Jaipur: gold worth Rs 28 lakh recovered from a passenger at the airport, was hidden in an electric meat grinder.
During checking, the X-ray machine revealed that dark images of some items are visible inside the electric meat grinder. In this, the gold was hidden.
A passenger was caught red-handed in jaipur International airport for bringing 581 grams of gold worth Rs 28.58 lakh. This traveller had come from Sharjah.
A customs official said the passenger who arrived on air Arabia flight G9 435 was intercepted at the airport on friday morning and while checking his checked-in baggage with an X-ray machine saw dark images of some luggage inside the electric meat grinder.
On inquiry, the passenger denied having or carrying any such article and could not give any satisfactory explanation.
When the meat grinder machine broke down, six solid gold (99.99% purity) biscuits were packed in a black plastic box wrapped with a black carbon plastic sheet.
Two persons, who had come to pick up the passenger who was waiting outside the airport, have also been taken into custody, the official said.
