According to media sources, Gothandarman, a resident of Chennai's Selayur, let out his 8063 square foot house to john Venkatesan. Strahan Road is the address of this property. The priest had a church erected on this rented property in 1980. The victim's Hindu family claims that the priest is now attempting to seize the rented land.
The land is in a premium region, and its current valuation is estimated to be over Rs 12 crore. The Hindu family has been attempting to reclaim their land for several years, but has been unsuccessful. The victim's family claims that they have received no administrative assistance up to this point. There has been no action taken against the alleged clergyman. The victim's family also claims that the accused priest was met by local police. As a result, the priest has launched a lawsuit against the victim's family. The Hindu family is now requesting that the CBCID conduct an investigation into the situation. The victim's relatives protested on their knees at the secretariat with these demands.
It should be mentioned that church land occupation is not a new occurrence in tamil Nadu.
