In noida, Uttar Pradesh STF and Knowledge Park police arrested two Chinese nationals, who cheated indian citizens in the name of liking videos by making a chit fund company, on Sunday. Both the accused are accomplices of ravikumar Natwarlal, a fraudster who was caught in the past and associated with the hawala business.
Police officials said that the accused used to lure indian citizens by sitting in Greater noida and showing them the dream of becoming a millionaire in the name of liking the video and used to ask people for money in the account in different instalments. police said that for the last four years the accused were running the business of cheating.
Used to send money abroad
According to the police, online apps were used to cheat and the cheated money was sent to foreign accounts through cryptocurrency. 150 SIMs, two laptops, one tab, four mobile phones, 76 pamphlets of the Guro media App, two passports, ATM cards, chequebooks and other important documents have been recovered from the possession of the arrested accused. A case has been registered against a total of 12 people, including seven Chinese citizens and five Indians, on behalf of the STF at Knowledge Park Kotwali.
Action has been taken under the STF IT Act, prize chit and money circulation scheme. The accused have cheated more than five thousand people of crores of rupees in four years. The strings of the accused are also related to the hawala business. police said that 50 thousand rupees were taken in the name of adding every person and then the pressure was made on them to add ten more people to become gold members.
Police said that after winning the trust by depositing a small amount, the accused used to deposit 10 to 30 lakh rupees on the pretext of giving prize money of five crores. This amount was deposited in different bank accounts. Greater noida DCP abhishek Verma said that in collaboration with STF, action has been taken against the citizens of China. In the investigation, the passport of one of the accused has expired.
