Doctor raped in Kolkata! Union minister suspects...?
The body of a junior doctor found in Kolkata's RG Kar government Medical college and Hospital has created a lot of uproar in Bengal. A day after the opposition protested and criticized the woman's death, the police arrested a suspect. He was produced in court today. The initial post-mortem report revealed that the doctor was sexually abused before she was killed. Her father has also made the same allegation, and he also said that the hospital officials are trying to suppress the truth. Meanwhile, the indian Medical Association (IMA) issued a press release demanding that the RG Kar Medical college officials take action within 48 hours, otherwise nationwide action will be initiated against the kolkata hospital.
‘Women’s safety should improve’
The IMA demanded a fair, time-bound investigation and also asked for immediate steps to improve the safety of doctors, especially women, at the workplace as well as a detailed investigation of the conditions that promote crime. The IMA said that if security cannot be ensured in educational institutions, then it is a sign of the incompetence of the administration. The body of a postgraduate trainee doctor was found in the seminar hall of RG Kar Medical college and Hospital on Friday.
What did Sukanta Majumdar say?
Union minister Sukanta Majumdar said, "There is a possibility of rape. The police have not said anything clearly yet, they said there is an injury in the internal organs. I think this cannot be the work of a single person. Circumstantial evidence says that more than one person was involved in this. You can hide the data in the National Crime Records and call the state a good state but the kind of incidents that are happening proves that they are not in a good condition. The situation of West bengal regarding the safety of women is not good."
