Telemarketing will be curbed, TRAI issued instructions...
Every day, people continue to get unsolicited calls and messages. people frequently get deceived as well as angered as a result of these. The Telecom Regulatory Authority of india (TRAI) released new recommendations on tuesday in response to this. They state that, in order to improve monitoring and management, all telemarketing calls must now switch to the 140 series. All telecom firms have till september 30 to complete this. Aside from this, starting on September 1, no messages will include URLs, APKs, OTT links, or callback numbers.
The message's sender and recipient must be identified by full name.
According to TRAI, all telecom providers must update their messaging systems. They shall possess comprehensive knowledge about the sender and recipient of each message starting on november 1, 2024. Any mail that lacks this information will have to be returned unread. According to TRAI, content templates that are registered under the incorrect category would also need to be blocked. There are situations when a month-long suspension is necessary for the offending individual. Every requirement will need to be adhered to in the content template. A single content template cannot be linked to more than one header aside from this.
Should any mistakes be discovered in the header or content template, suspension will need to occur.
According to TRAI, all of a company's headers and content templates will be suspended if any errors are discovered in them. They will then need to proceed with the verification process. Before they can resume their employment, the legal process must be finished. In addition, within two days, telemarketers and delivery personnel must report any misuse of the message. If not, severe measures will also be implemented against them.
