Sagar Dhankhar murder case accused gets interim bail…
A delhi court has granted two-day interim bail to an accused in the wrestler Sagar Dhankhar murder case on humanitarian grounds to attend his sister's wedding. Accused Bijender had sought interim bail to attend the wedding ceremony on january 24. Additional Sessions Judge Sushil Kumar had said in an order on january 23 that the investigating officer (IO) has verified the fact of his sister's wedding. After this, on humanitarian grounds, the accused was allowed interim bail for two days from january 24 to 25 on furnishing a personal bond of Rs 25,000 and two sureties of the same amount.
The court has also imposed other conditions, including not threatening prosecution witnesses, not tampering with evidence and not being involved in any other crime. A court here had in october 2022 framed charges against Olympic medallist wrestler Sushil Kumar and Bijender, besides 16 others, in the Chhatrasal Stadium murder case.
What is the whole matter?
In an alleged property dispute, Sushil Kumar and Bijender, along with some others, are accused of attacking former national wrestling champion Sagar Dhankhar and his friends jai Bhagwan and Bhagat in the parking lot of the Chhatrasal Stadium in the national capital on May 4, 2021. Dhankhar later died of injuries, after which Kumar was arrested.
A court had framed charges of murder and criminal conspiracy against Sushil Kumar and Bijender, besides 16 others. police investigation had revealed that Sagar and his friends were first abducted from two different places in delhi, then brought to the Chhatrasal Stadium, where they were assaulted.
