'No Action In FIR Registered For Nine Years', HC Reprimanded Police...

The delhi high court on wednesday expressed displeasure over the indifferent attitude of delhi police in a criminal case and reprimanded them. The delhi high court said that the kind of action that should have been taken by the delhi police in the FIR registered in a criminal case for the last 9 years was not seen.



Expressing displeasure in this matter, the delhi high court has ordered the concerned Assistant Commissioner of police to investigate against the investigating officer associated with this case.


Justice Pritam Singh Arora of the delhi high court made this remark while hearing a petition seeking cancellation of an FIR on the basis of its merits and said that the concerned IO of police station Amar Colony had adopted an indifferent attitude in the investigation, as it was pending for many years. The lawyer appearing on behalf of the petitioner told the court that the delhi police has not completed the investigation for the last nine years due to which the petitioner has been defamed.

The lawyer in delhi high court said that now according to section 468 CrPC, the time limit for taking cognizance in this case has also expired, so he has asked the court to cancel the FIR registered in this case. However, while hearing the case, delhi high court directed the ACP related to delhi police to start investigation against the IO related to this case who is in charge of the investigation and also asked for a phased time frame of the investigation and directed the concerned ACP to file a status report within a week. The next hearing of the case in delhi high court has been fixed on february 24.
