A woman in Greater noida has been duped of more than Rs 51 lakh in an online scam. The woman was added to a whatsapp group, where she was given free amazon vouchers. Greedy, the woman fell for the scammers and downloaded an investment app to earn more money. Here she kept investing money continuously, but instead of getting invested, this money kept going into the pockets of the scammers.
An unknown person contacted her on social media
According to reports, meenu Rani, a resident of Greater noida, was contacted by a person named hari Singh on social media. hari Singh introduced himself as an investment expert and added meenu to a whatsapp group. A few days later, a woman named Aarti Singh contacted meenu and said that hari Singh has gifted an amazon voucher worth Rs 1,000 to every group member. In this way, the scammers succeeded in winning Meenu's trust.
Greed to earn money on investment
Once hari Singh won the trust, he lured the victim woman to invest money and earn profit. The woman fell for this greed and transferred Rs 50,000 to the scammers' account. After this, the scammers asked the woman to download an app. In this, the woman's deposit amount and the profit earned on it was being shown. Falling into the trap of the scammers, the woman transferred a total of Rs 51.5 lakh to the scammers' account. Later, a relative of the woman told that this could be a scam. After this, when the woman asked for her money from the scammers, they blocked her. The victim has now complained to the police.
