An HR manager in shanghai city of china has committed a shocking scam of stealing a huge amount of about 16 million yuan i.e. about 19 crores rupees from his company. For this, he created a record of 22 fake employees (Ghost Employees) and grabbed the amount of salary and retirement allowance in their name. This scam lasted for 8 years and he was caught in 2022.
How did the scam happen?
This HR manager named Yang used to handle the salary and payment of temporary workers in a tech company. He came to know that there was a lack of monitoring in the company and he had complete control over the appointment and salary payment of employees. Taking advantage of this, he created a record of a fake employee named 'Sun'. Yang applied for salary in the name of sun and transferred that amount to a bank account under his control. When the labor service company investigated Sun's non-payment of salary, Yang blamed the tech company.
The scam lasted for 8 years
The investigation revealed that Yang had created records of 22 fake employees since 2014. In the name of these 'ghost employees', he stole a total of 16 million yuan, about Rs 19 crore.
How was the scam caught?
In 2022, the finance department of the tech company suspected that Sun's attendance record was perfect and he always got his salary on time, but he was never seen in the office. After this, the officials were informed and the investigation started. The investigation revealed that Yang had hatched this scam for 8 years through fake attendance records and bank transactions. Yang was sentenced to 10 years and 2 months in prison on corruption charges. His political rights were also taken away for one year and he was ordered to pay a fine.
