Actually, all the credentials of these departments are currently available on the darknet and cyber criminals can target them anytime using these credentials. Investigation has also revealed that Pakistani and Chinese hackers are stealing the leaked data on the darknet, which can become a big threat in the future.
Change email passwords from time to time

In view of this threat, maharashtra Cyber has asked these departments to change their email passwords from time to time, take various steps including cyber security audit and compliance, forensic investigation, risk assessment, application testing, disaster recovery plan. It is known that some departments of the maharashtra government have already been attacked by cyber attacks a few years ago, including ransomware attack on JNPT mumbai in 2017, cosmos Bank cyber robbery of Rs 100 crore in 2018, extensive cyber attack on MCEB server in 2020 and major ransomware attack on MIDC server in 2021.
