Why does Railway Track have stones???

Have you ever wondered why stones are laid under the train tracks? You must have seen such sharp stones on every railway track, today we are going to tell you the reason behind this.
Before that, let us tell you that concrete plates are laid on the railway track, which is called sleepers. Under these sleepers, there is a stone which is called ballast. There are different types of soil in the two layers under the ballast and the ground beneath all of them.

Now let's talk about the stones scattered on the track, that is, the ballast. The weight of a train made of iron is up to 10 lakh kg. In such a situation, the weight of the train is only on the tracks. Due to the heavyweight, the concrete sleepers do not move from their place, so sharp stones are laid on the track.
That is, whenever a train runs on the track, all the weight falls on the sleeper made of concrete. During this, the concrete sleeper made of stones from the surroundings makes it easy to remain stable.
Apart from this, when the train moves on the track, there is vibration, in such a situation, the possibility of spreading the tracks increases. Stones are also used to reduce this vibration and to prevent the cracks from spreading.
One of the reasons for laying stones on the tracks is that there is no problem with waterlogging in the tracks. When the rainwater falls on the track, it goes through the stone on the ground, so there is no problem of waterlogging in between the tracks.
