Why does this animal eat its poop??
Do you know that there is such an animal in the world that eats its potty? However, doing so is very important for his health, this animal is none other than Rabbit. For better health, the rabbit has to consume its feces. This process is called autocoprophagy.
What is the reason?
Rabbits spend their lives mostly eating grass. Due to this many essential nutrients come out from their body without being digested. This is the reason why rabbits eat it and again digest more and more nutrients. This is similar to how most quadrupedal animals like cows and buffaloes bring their digested food back into the mouth and re-digest it.
There are two types of rabbit potty, one of these is in the form of a liquid and the other is like a tablet. The first type of potty is called cecotropes. It is rich in nutrients that get flushed out of the body in liquid form. This is eaten by rabbits and then after completely digesting it, they do potty again in tablet form.
Twice as many nutrients are found inside the cecotropes, that is, a liquid potty, then a potty with a tablet. It is rich in vitamin K and vitamin B12. If rabbits do not eat the liquid potty, then most of the nutrients will be removed from their body without being digested.
At the same time, in the animal world, the rabbit is not the only creature that eats its potty. This tendency is found in guinea pigs, small rats, and similar herbivorous animals.
