
Chinese government officials have confirmed that a china Eastern airlines plane carrying 132 people crashed in Guangxi province. According to the Chinese Department of Civil Aviation. The death toll and the cause of the crash are not yet fully known.
State media have reported that a Boeing 737 jet crashed in a mountainous area, causing a forest fire. Flight MU5735 departed Kunming from Guangzhou at 1:15 pm (05:15 GMT) local time. Rescue crews have been dispatched to the crash site. The first group of them have arrived at the scene.
The plane crashed near Deng County in Wuzhou province. Guangxi is a neighboring province of Guangzhou, a major city in the southeast.
