Reason behind celebrating 14 april as National Sikh Day....

The US congress has passed a resolution to celebrate april 14 as 'National Sikh Day'. There is much more enthusiasm than this for the Sikh population living in America. The US congress submitted this resolution 1007 in its second session on march 28. Many prominent congress members were also among those who submitted this proposal, including the American Sikh congress Committee.

The efforts of the Sikh community were appreciated in this resolution. It was told in the proposal that this religion started in punjab, india and about 100 years ago some Sikh people came to America for the first time. sikhism is the fifth-largest religion in the world with about 30,000,000 followers. In America itself, the number of people who believe in sikhism is close to 1,000,000. The contribution of the Sikh community to the development of America has also been mentioned in this resolution.

There is a special reason behind celebrating 14 april as 'National Sikh Day'. On this day, the festival of baisakhi is celebrated by the people of the Sikh community all over the world. It is the harvest festival in Punjab. punjab is the only state in india from where sikhism originated.

According to the Sikh calendar, this day falls on 14 april and the Khalsa Panth was established on this day in 1699. This day is specially dedicated to the struggle against injustice and oppression, which has played an important role in the nature and history of Sikhism. This is the most correct option to decide this day because on this day (Baisakhi and Khalsa Panth Foundation Day) the Sikh community all over the world celebrates the festival with pomp.

Appreciating the role of the Sikh community in America, the congress members said, "The citizens of America consider themselves fortunate to appreciate the contribution of the Sikh community." Sikhs have an important contribution to enriching the social nature of the country.

Harpreet Singh, executive director of the Sikh Committee, said, “I am happy that efforts are being made to recognize the contribution of the Sikh community living in different parts of America. Sikhs have played a big role in the development of America.
